Caveat Nominated for Toronto Independent
Music Award for Best Metal Act
Toronto, ON - August 28, 2007 -- Caveat, one of Western Canada's
leading and most progressive metal bands has been nominated for the
2007 Toronto Independant Awards in the Best Metal category. This nomination
is in recognition of the support and attention they have been receiving
for their new CD, "Red." Most notably, "Red" has stayed
on the Top 10 Loud charts on campus radio stations across Canada in
the 10 weeks since its release. Other bands nominated in the Best
Metal category are Arya, Ill of Day, Tracenine, The Blood Theory,
Chris Ning & VII Days II Perfection.
The TIMAs recognize the achievement
of independent artists in all genres and attempt to draw new independent
artists into the spotlight. The TIMAs aspire to strengthen local music
and Canada's contribution to independent music worldwide. They celebrate
the vibrant local music scene flourishing in Toronto and highlight
the tremendous talent of the musicians who live and perform in Ontario
and world wide. We allow local and regional artists to showcase their
work and help artists develop their professional abilities and performance
skills. The TIMAs create a positive community space that allows artists
an opportunity to meet each other and music industry professionals
and bring as much media exposure and as many opportunities as possible.
About Caveat:
Caveat was founded by Greg Musgrave (ex Toke, Stonewater, now also
in BlackSky and Exit Strategy) on guitar and vocals, and bassist/vocalist
Terry Baldwin (ex Cryptomnesia and Verbal Deception), with drummer
Casey Rogers (ex Stonewater, Self Control, now also in BlackSky and
Exit Strategy) and guitarist Joe Sikorski (ex Thorazine, now also
in BlackSky and Exit Strategy). In 2005, the newly cemented line-up
produced a professional, self titled five-song EP, featuring 26 minutes
of accessible, progressive metal that combines both aggressive death/black
metal vocals and three-part harmonies with funk influenced bass lines
and punishing thrash-metal guitar riffs. Besides showcasing three
new tracks, the EP also includes re-recorded versions of Immortalized
and State of Grace from Caveat's 2004 debut album "The
Biggest Secret".
