Metal Legend Ray "Black Metal" Wallace Passes Away

We are saddened to report that our friend and one of the metal community's
greatest supporters, Ray "Black Metal" Wallace, has passed away after
suffering a medical emergency at his home. Ray was always willing
to lend a hand any way he could and was instrumental in founding the
Heavy Metal Music Association of Canada to bring metal to the forefront
of the industry. Our thoughts and condolences go out to Ray's family
            at this difficult time.

Caveat to Open for Gwar Show

Caveat has had the incredible fortune
to be asked on short notice to open for Gwar
at Calgary's McEwan Hall this evening. Due to reasons unknown, the
originally scheduled opening act was unable to perform. Gwar is described
as a metal troupe with a theatrical bent, carving and slashing through
bloodied sets of boisterous, growling shows and has enjoyed a growing
            international success.

New Release by Holly Woods of Toronto

We can barely contain our excitement on this one although it has been
in the works since late 2006. Holly
Woods was lead singer for the band Toronto in the late 70's and
80's. The band released 5 studio albums (and 2 greatest hits packages)
that sold almost 700,000 units in Canada resulting in about 10 Top
40 hits. In 1985, due to a number of unforeseen and unfortunate events,
Toronto disbanded leaving a bulk of new material unreleased. It would
have appeared that fate was against them and the material would never
see the light of day. Cyclone Records has acquired the rights to the
"lost" master and is now releasing it as an 8 song album entitled
            "Holly Woods-Live It Up!"
in April 2007. A tour is in the works for June and July of this year.

Cyclone Presents a Special Guest on Q107 This Thursday

OK, now we can talk all about the Q107 Workplace Challenge
that took place yesterday morning. For those that missed it, we lined
            up classic Canadian rockers Honeymoon
Suite to come in to the Q107 studios for a live performance on
behalf of SmartCentres Inc. Needless to say, SmartCentres won the challenge by presenting not
only a classic rock song as required but had on hand the actual band
to perform it! As their reward, the Q107 "Derringer in the Morning"
            crew broadcast live from SmartCentres'
head office this morning. You can read more in our MySpace blog here.
